LGA’s annual spring, fall, and regional conferences keep members up to date on issues of local government law, trial and appellate practice, and related fields. Conference programs offer 6–10 hours of MCLE credit, with ethics credit offered annually. LGA business meetings are conducted in conjunction with the conferences. LGA's conference locations are selected by the board of directors at least one year in advance. To ensure that conferences are held throughout the state, sites are rotated among five major geographic regions: West of I-81, Piedmont, Central, Tidewater, and Northern Virginia.
