Friday Afternoon Activities:

LGA is planning several area activities on Friday afternoon, April 26. For more information on this spring’s offerings, click HERE.

Although our Friday Afternoon Activities have been supplemented in part by the sponsorship of Gentry Locke Attorneys, some of these activities have a cost, and some have limited spaces. Sign-ups are first come, first served. You can sign up by emailing [email protected]. Sign up now, pay later at the registration desk with cash or check.

Opening Night Party

All roads lead to . . . Richmond! This spring’s opening night party is being held at the brand new General Assembly Building at 9^th and Broad Streets, at the Virginia State Capital campus. We are the very first outside group to utilize this space since it opened earlier this year, but even though we will be “guinea pigs,” we are sure to have a great time enjoying this beautiful new seat of state government. It is about a 10-15 minute walk from the Omni, and for folks who have mobility issues we intend to offer a shuttle; there is no parking other than very limited street parking on nearby blocks. We will access the building on 9^th Street, as the pedestrian tunnel closes at 5 pm.

Attendees at the Spring LGA Conference will have the opportunity to receive credit for up to three mandatory and one optional topic of the leadership training. Those topics include: land use law, FOIA, employment (all mandatory) and public utilities and local public finance (both optional). Note that the public utilities and local public finance topics are concurrent sessions occurring at the same time, so attendees will only be able to attend one of those two topics.
