LEGAL SKILLS CONFERENCE

Under the leadership of our colleague Sharon Pandak, the American Bar Association’s Government and Public Sector Lawyers Division is presenting a Legal Skills Conference in Richmond, Virginia, on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Richmond Omni Hotel. LGA is a co-sponsor of the conference; other sponsors include the ABA Section of Criminal Justice, the Office of the Virginia Attorney General, and the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission. MCLE approval for 6 credit hours, including 2 ethics, is pending.

This CLE conference is not just talking heads discussing recent legal developments; it is a dynamic, interactive program during which expert faculty will provide strategies and practical information to sharpen key legal competencies. Sessions will include opportunities to participate in exercises with faculty guidance. Skills building sessions include:

  • Depositions
  • Negotiation
  • InterviewingChildren & Adolescents
  • Legal writing
  • Ethics

This hands-on/highly interactive conference was designed for: 1) newer lawyers with 1-5 years of experience, 2) lawyers who are changing the focus of their practice and 3) lawyers who simply want to sharpen their skills.

To get the $155 reduced rate for LGA members, select register now (twice) and on the "Select Your Attendee Type" page, click the down arrow and select "Outside Co-sponsor". You may also use the attached registration form. Write “LGA” beside the listed $155 registration fee.

Registration is open until October 16 at 5 pm, but twenty spots have been reserved for LGA members until September 6 at 5 pm. You may still register after September 6 if the conference attendance maximum has not been reached.
